Rhinoplasty
It is a plastic surgery on the nose that changes its shape, size, length and/or function. It can be aesthetic (to correct the appearance) or functional (to improve breathing; often combined with septoplasty).
How does rhinoplasty occur?
- consultation, examination and diagnosis;
- performed in the operating room using general anesthesia, can be open or closed;
- incision is made;
- the desired area of the nose is corrected (reduction of the hump, alignment of the back, narrowing of the wings of the nose, correction of the tip, etc.);
- septoplasty (correction of the nasal septum) can be performed if necessary;
- closing incisions, suturing and installing internal silicone plates in the sinuses of the nose (they are removed in 2-3 days, at which time the patient breathes with his mouth);
- the patient remains under the supervision of medical personnel for at least 3 days.
Who is rhinoplasty suitable for?
- people with congenital or acquired deformities of the nose (hump, curvature, disproportionality, width of the wings of the nose, etc.);
- patients with impaired nasal breathing, which is associated with anatomical features (often combined with septoplasty);
- people with psychological discomfort due to the shape or size of the nose;
- people over 18 years old, when the bone-cartilage system is formed.
