Office hysteroscopy
It is a modern minimally invasive diagnostic procedure, during which the doctor examines the internal cavity of the uterus using a hysteroscope (a thin optical instrument with a camera), without anesthesia and hospitalization. It is carried out on an outpatient basis (“in the doctor's office”), takes a little time and is usually well tolerated by women.
It can also be used to remove intrauterine spirals or foreign bodies.
How does office hysteroscopy occur?
- consultation and inspection;
- performed on the gynecological chair using local anesthesia (if necessary or at the request of the patient, general anesthesia can be used);
- a thin hysteroscope with a diameter of 3-5 mm is inserted through the vagina into the cervix;
- the doctor sees in real time on the monitor the condition of the endometrium, fallopian tubes, the presence of polyps, myomas or other changes and establishes or confirms the diagnosis;
- If necessary, a tissue sample can be taken for biopsy.

- women with menstrual disorders (heavy, scanty or irregular bleeding);
- if intrauterine pathology is suspected (polyps, endometrial hyperplasia, fibroids);
- in case of infertility or miscarriages, to assess the condition of the uterus;
- for control after operations on the uterus (removal of fibroids, polyps, synechia).
